Song: I live without fear

Lyrics:

Though green summer fade, and winter draw near,
My Lord, in Your presence
I live without fear.

Through tempest, through snows,
Through turbulent tide,
The touch of Your hand
Is my strength and my guide.

4Plan of Action for this week

  1. “Happiness can be had by the exercise of self-control, by cultivating habits of plain living and high thinking, by spending less even though earning more.”
Think about a habit that you want to change. Write about how you are going to exercise self-control to change that habit.
    to
  2. Write about how you perceive you are living your life: with moderation or extremes or in between. Are you happy? If not. List 3 things you are going to put the effort to change.
    to

Are there any needs or desires that you can reduce or let go? Anything that is not part of your basic needs
    to
  4. Be silent and calm every night for at least ten minutes (longer if possible) before you retire, and again in the morning before rising.
    to
  5. Seek happiness more in your mind and less in the desire to acquire things. Be so happy in your mind that nothing that comes can possibly make you unhappy.

Visualization: Spiritual Eye Meditation

Concentrate at the point between the eyebrows. Visualize there a tunnel of golden light. Mentally enter that tunnel, and feel yourself surrounded by a glorious sense of happiness and freedom. As you move through the tunnel, feel yourself bathed by the light until all worldly thoughts disappear.

After soaring through the tunnel as long as you feel to do so, visualize before you a curtain of deep violet-blue light. Pass through that curtain into another tunnel of deep, violet-blue light. Feel the light surrounding you. Slowly, the tunnel walls disappear in blue light. Expand your consciousness into that light – into infinite freedom and bliss. Now there is no tunnel. There is only the all-encompassing blueness and bliss of infinity.

At last, visualize before you a silvery-white, five-pointed star of light. Surrender every thought, every feeling into this star of absolute, ever-existing bliss.

Mentally affirm: “I awake in Thy Light, I awake in Thy Light, I am joyful, I am free, I awake in Thy Light!”

Song: “I awake in Thy Light, I awake in Thy Light, I am joyful, I am free, I awake in Thy Light!”

4Plan of Action for this week

  1. This week commit to focusing on at least one of these behaviors and keep constantly improving yourself by being: unselfish, wise, calm, meditative, fearless, sweet, sincere, courteous, methodical, true to your word, and unafraid to be firm.
    3
  2. Never dwell on the thought of your shortcomings.
    • Recall, instead, the memory of the good things you have done, and of the goodness that exists in the world.

  3. Whatever you want others to be, first be that yourself. Then, you will find others responding in like manner to you.

This week choose at least one of these behaviors and be that yourself:

  • If you want to be loved, start loving others who need your love.
  • If you expect others to be honest with you, then start by being honest yourself.
  • If you want others to sympathize with you, start showing sympathy to those around you.
  • If you want to be respected, you must learn to be respectful to everyone, both young and old.
  • If you want a display of peace from others, you must be peaceful yourself.
  • If you want others to be religious, start being spiritual yourself.

  • Banish sadness with joy.
  • Destroy sickening thoughts of failure with the tonic of success consciousness.
  • Polish disharmony with the chisel of harmony.

  • Shame unkindness by kindness. Dethrone sick thoughts and place King Vitality on the throne of right living.
  • Banish restlessness and ignorance from the shores of your mind.
  • Establish the kingdom of silence within, and the God of happiness will freely enter.

Inspiration & Affirmation: Joy (Source: Affirmations for Self-Healing by Swami Kriyananda)

True joy is not an emotional state. It is not that which one feels when some desire is satisfied, or when everything at last goes well. It is inward; it is of the soul. It can be developed, first, by not reacting emotionally to outward things.

Don’t be tossed on alternating waves of success and failure. Don’t join, in their excitement, the buyers and sellers in the marketplace of this world. Be calm in yourself, even-minded and cheerful through the gains and losses of life. Then, in calm, deep meditation feel the joy of the soul. Hold on to that joy through all activities. Don’t confine it, but try ever to expand it, until your little joy becomes the joy of God.

Prayer: In the calmness of meditation, at the heart of my inner peace, help me to feel Thy thrilling, joyful presence.

Affirmation: I am even-minded and cheerful at all times. I know that joy is not outside me, but within.

4Plan of Action for this week

  1. Think of a negative habit that you want to change. Write it down.
What 3 actions you are going to take every day this week to establish the opposite habit? List them here
In a week write down the progress you have made and/or any adjudgment you need to make
  2. This week, practice seeing the good side of ever situation, person you encounter, and challenge you face.
After a week write down your experience
  3. Replace:
    1. Worry with peace by taking time to meditate every day for at least 10 minutes
    2. Sorrow with a smile
    3. Unhappiness with happiness
    4. Self-pity with a positive attitude
    5. Gossiping with “See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil, think no evil, feel no evil.”
The next time you are tempted to talk about the moral and mental wickedness of other people, immediately begin to talk loudly about your own mental and moral wickedness for just five minutes and see how you like it. If you do not like to talk about your own faults, if it hurts you to do so, you certainly should feel more hurt when saying unkind and harmful things about other people. Train yourself, and each member of your family, to refrain from talking about others.
  4. “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” (Matthew 7:1-2)
How do you apply this truth principle in your daily life when you are tempted to judge?
  5. Fight your bad habits of anger, faultfinding, jealousy, fear, inertia, overeating, or whatever your particular weakness is, by not yielding to temptation against your will.

5. Inspiration & AffirmationPositive Thinking
As we think, so we become. And as we think, so our lives and circumstances become also. From the divine consciousness come answers to all our questions, and solutions to all our problems. It is in lower consciousness that confusion reigns.
Think positively in everything you do, for in that way you help to attune yourself to the divine flow. One who is inwardly in tune with grace finds all things harmonious and beneficial being attracted to him. Positive thinking, combined with the sense of divine attunement, is never presumptuous, for it draws its power, not from the ego, but from the consciousness of God’s joy within.

Prayer: Problems cannot exist, Lord, whenever Thou art near. Give me strength always to hold Thee in my heart.

Affirmation: My outer life is a reflection of my inner thoughts. Filled with the joy of God, I express His joy and harmony in everything I do.

Song: All the world is my friend

Lyrics

All the world is my friend

When I learn how to share my love.

When I stretch out my hand and smile,

Then I live from above.

4. Introspection: This week observe yourself

  1. Be willing to let go of placing the responsibility to be happy in others. Pay attention to your behavior and the ways you might expect others to make you happy. For example, the language you use, the expectations you have of others, the temptation to play victim, or complain or to judge.
  2. Be determined to be happy. Do not wait for your situation to change, thinking that therein lies the trouble. Try to be happy under all circumstances. If your happiness sometimes seems dependent on certain conditions, then change your circumstances so that you will be happy all the time.
  3. Reflect on the thieves of happiness and be willing to be honest with yourself by taking action to eradicate them from your life: fear, procrastination, judgment, guilt, doubt, insecurity, greed, expectation, impatience, inertia or lack of the desire to progress, self-satisfaction, and skepticism.
  4. Replace negative habits with the opposite good habits. For example, If you have a bad habit of telling lies, start the opposite good habit of telling the truth.

5. Inspiration & Affirmation: Calmness (Source: Affirmations for Self-Healing by Swami Kriyananda)
Calmness is perfectly achieved when life’s little wave becomes absorbed into the cosmic sea, in divine ecstasy. In daily life, too, we can achieve calmness to a degree by keeping our awareness focused on the reality of the Spirit underlying all outward circumstances.

Calmness comes with the determination to live ever happily in the present moment, relinquishing the past, and not worrying about the future, but placing our lives firmly in God’s hands, and knowing that He is fully in command. Calmness comes with non-attachment-with knowing that nothing in this world is truly ours.

Prayer: With Thee beside me, I know that the tides of trouble can never sweep me away. Hold fast my hand, Lord; never let me go!

Affirmation: Though the winds of difficulties howl around me, I stand forever calmly at the center of life’s storms.

3. Introspection:

  • Every day write down the things that you say, or think or do, to look for happiness outside of yourself.
  • Choose 3 ways to awaken your inner happiness and practice them every day this week. For example: smile more, be kinder, be more generous, be more compassionate, etc.
  • Spend your time in doing things that last. For example: Meditation, prayer, service. Every day this week choose at least one thing that you will do that day that will help you to awaken to your soul essence.

Inspiration: Happiness (Source: Affirmations for Self-Healing by Swami Kriyananda)

Happiness is an attitude of mind, born of the simple determination to be happy under all outward circumstances. Happiness lies not in things, nor in outward attainments. It is the gold of our inner nature, buried beneath the mud of outward sense-cravings.

When you know that nothing outside you can affect you-no disappointment, no failure, no misunderstanding from others-then you will know that you have found true happiness.

Resolve strongly to keep this flame burning ever in your heart.

Prayer: O Lord of Joy, fill me with boundless happiness. For I am Thy child, made in Thy blissful image. As Thou art Joy, so also, in my inner self, am I.

Affirmation: I vow from today onwards to be happy under every circumstance. I came from God’s joy. I am joy!

Repeat affirmation with feeling and conviction:

  1. Loudly at first, to command the full attention of your conscious mind.
  2. Quietly, to absorb more deeply the meaning of the words.
  3. In a whisper, carrying their meaning down into the subconscious.
  4. Silently, to deepen your absorption of them at the subconscious level.
  5. Then at last, with rising aspiration, repeat them at the Christ center. At every level, repeat them several times, absorbing yourself ever-more-deeply in their meaning. By repeated affirmation you can strengthen, and, later, spiritualize your awareness of any quality you want to develop.

Song: You Feel My Heart with Music by Swami Kriyananda:

Lyrics:

You fill my heart with music;
I dance through life with Thee.
I sing your song and sorrow’s gone,
In joy I live ever free.
