Mahatma Gandhi expresses simply the way we can become ambassadors of peace:
“I offer you peace.
I offer you love.
I offer you friendship.
I see your beauty.
I hear your need.
I feel your feelings.
My wisdom flows from the highest Source.
I salute that Source in you.
Let us work together. For unity and peace.”
Becoming an ambassador of peace is an individual decision that each one of us has to make. We have to be aware that it takes effort and commitment because when challenges show up in our lives, we have to pay attention to our behavior and how we react or respond to life situations. This is when we have to remind ourselves that we are responsible for how we show up in the world and how we impact it. We help the world when we offer peace, love and friendship, as Gandhi expresses it. We contaminate the world when we criticize, gossip, complain and live in fear. It is up to us how we choose to impact the world.
We have the examples of so many heroes like Gandhi, who have demonstrated for us what it means to be an ambassador of peace. These heroes have shown us the meaning of compassion, caring for others, responsibility, unity and divine connection. What’s important is to remember that creating a better world is not only their responsibility but it is also ours. We have to do our part and work together.
How do we do our part? Here are some ideas:
- Respond to situations in life with calmness, instead of reacting with anger, judgment, or fear.
- Be conscious of the language you speak. Make sure it is kind and uplifting.
- Pay attention to the thoughts you entertain in your mind. Make sure they are positive. They are creating your reality.
- Have a positive attitude in life, always focusing on the solution and not on the problem.
- Remember to connect and embrace the divine power that flows thru you.
- Live and enjoy the present moment.
I invite you to join me to continue Gandhi’s legacy to become ambassadors of peace by offering our peace, love and friendship to everyone. Lets be determined to see everyone as part of one human family yearning for the same things: peace, love and happiness. Instead of focusing on our differences, lets commit to focusing on our similarities and seeing the good in everyone. As Gandhi says, “Let us work together. For unity and peace.”
